Assistance is available to low-income, handicapped, or elderly individuals and families who need to upgrade or improve existing conditions that are unsafe or unhealthy.

Last year, Watkins Glen Hometown Hero’s honored our local Vietnam Era Veterans by installing 40 of our own Vietnam Veterans Hometown Hero’s banners running along both sides of our main street beginning from the intersection of 4th and Decatur Street, running East to the canal bridge. There are two commemorative 50th Anniversary banners at the beginning, and two at the end of the street.
We hoped to pay special honor to our local Vietnam Veterans and their families for their service. We want to remember these local men and women who served during one of Americas longest conflicts and to pay our respects to the veterans of our Watkins Glen community who served during the Vietnam era (1955-1975) while observing the 50th anniversary year of the Paris Peace Accords.
